Safe Creation

Overview

This guide provides step-by-step instructions to create and configure your secure UnoLock vault using the Progressive Web App (PWA).

Prerequisites

  • A supported device (e.g., smartphone, tablet, or computer) with the UnoLock PWA installed or accessible via a modern browser.
  • A stable internet connection.
  • Familiarity with your device’s authentication methods (e.g., fingerprint, facial recognition, or FIDO2-compatible hardware key).

Create a New Safe

  1. Open the UnoLock PWA and go to the home page.
  2. Select the option to create a new safe (e.g., “Create Safe” or a similar menu option).
  3. Note: If “Create Safe” is not visible, check the main menu for a similar option and ensure the app is updated to the latest version.

Accept Terms and Conditions

  1. Review the terms and conditions displayed on the welcome screen.
  2. Read the terms carefully and click Accept Terms (or a similar option, e.g., “Agree”) to proceed.
  3. Note: If the terms are not shown or the button label differs, verify the current interface and follow the prompts.

Configure Safe Security

  1. Choose a security method:
  2. Current Device: Use the device you’re setting up the safe on as the authentication key.
  3. Another Device: Configure an additional device for enhanced security (optional; may default to current device if unavailable).
  4. Enter a unique, memorable name for your safe (e.g., “Personal Vault” or “Work Documents”) for easy recognition.
  5. Click Next to continue.
  6. Note: If the option to select another device is unclear, the app may default to the current device. Check the latest security options.

Set Up PIN Security

  1. Read the information about PIN security to understand its role (e.g., as a secondary authentication or DuressDecoy PIN).
  2. Acknowledge the information as prompted (e.g., by clicking an “Acknowledge” button).
  3. Choose a strong personal identification number (PIN), avoiding repetitive or predictable numbers (e.g., “1234”).
  4. Note: The term “UDALOC PIN” may be outdated and likely refers to a standard PIN or passcode. Verify the terminology in the current interface.

Test Your Login Credentials

  1. Authenticate using your device’s standard method (e.g., fingerprint scan, facial recognition, or FIDO2 passkey).
  2. Select your safe’s name from the list of available safes.
  3. Enter the PIN you set in Step 4 to confirm access.
  4. Note: If the authentication method or interface differs (e.g., no explicit “test” step), follow the app’s prompts to verify access. Screenshots of the authentication screen can clarify this step.

Choose Data Storage Location

  1. Select your preferred storage option:
  2. Single Region (Free and Inheritance tiers): Choose one region to comply with local data regulations.
  3. Multi-Region Redundancy (Sovereign and HighRisk tiers): Opt for multiple regions for enhanced reliability.
  4. Click Next or Confirm to finalize your selection.
  5. Note: If storage options are unclear or the interface has changed (e.g., new regions or terms like “Data Centers”), verify the current interface.

Explore Your Safe

  1. Access your newly created vault in the Free tier (or your selected tier), which offers basic features for storing and managing data.
  2. Navigate the interface to explore tools (e.g., file upload, organization).
  3. Consider upgrading to higher tiers (Inheritance, Sovereign, HighRisk) for advanced features like increased storage or enhanced security.
  4. Note: The term “Freeway” is outdated; the Free tier is referred to as “Free” in the current app. Verify the tier name in the latest version.
