Using Duress Decoy Mode

Overview

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for configuring the Duress Decoy feature for your UnoLock vault to protect sensitive data in situations of coercion, available for users on the Sovereign or HighRisk tiers.

Access Duress Decoy Settings

  1. Navigate to the main menu in the UnoLock app.
  2. Select Configuration.
  3. Click to access the Duress Decoy configuration.

Create a Safe Word PIN

  1. Enter a safe word PIN in the provided prompt.
  2. Note: This PIN will trigger your decoy vault in situations of coercion, displaying only decoy data while keeping your real data hidden.
  3. Click Next.

Review Duress Decoy Information

  1. Read the information screen about UnoLock spaces and how they relate to the Duress Decoy feature carefully.
  2. Click Yes to proceed.

Confirm Duress Decoy Setup

  1. Type I am sure into the provided field to confirm the setup of the Duress Decoy feature.
  2. Click Next.
  3. Note: If you are configuring Duress Decoy while in your decoy vault, your original vault data will be overwritten to ensure an attacker in the decoy vault has no indication it is a decoy.

Select Spaces to Protect

  1. Choose the space or spaces containing sensitive data you want to keep hidden.
  2. Click OK.
  3. Carefully review the selected spaces to ensure they contain the data you wish to protect.
  4. Click Next.

Test the Duress Decoy Feature

  1. Exit your vault.
  2. Access the vault using your safe word PIN to verify that only decoy data is visible.
  3. Confirm that the Duress Decoy feature is set up correctly.
  4. Exit the vault once you have verified everything is as expected.
  5. Note: Testing this feature is recommended to ensure proper configuration.
