Local File Encryption
Overview
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for securely adding, encrypting, and decrypting files in the Free tier of your UnoLock vault.
Access the Files Menu
- Open your UnoLock vault.
- Navigate to the Files section on the left-hand side of the main menu.
Add Files to Your Vault
- In the Files section, choose one of the following methods to add files:
- Drag and drop your files into the drag-and-drop area.
- Select files from your device.
- Review the informational window explaining the encryption process.
- Click OK to begin the encryption process.
Encrypt the File
- Wait for a file selection prompt to load, allowing you to select the file.
- Select the file and click Start to encrypt it directly on your device.
- After encryption, the file will be downloaded to your device with a .ulef extension (indicating a UnoLock encrypted file).
- Click Done to complete the process.
- Note: The encrypted file will appear in the list of files with a symbol indicating it is stored locally as an encrypted file.
Decrypt a .ulef File
- To decrypt a .ulef file stored on your device, either:
- Click Open Local and select a local file.
- Select the file from the list in the Files section.
- Upload the corresponding .ulef file into the app when prompted.
- Once decrypted, choose one of the following options:
- Download the file unencrypted.
- View the file directly within the app for maximum security (if it’s a supported file type).
